About Southampton Aztecs

We want to do things differently. Futsal is a sport than can be enjoyed by all, and a sport that should be done better in a lot of ways. We're going to play our small part in making our little corner of the world a better place to do futsal.

Our women's first team compete in the FA NFS Tier One, and have their games on BT Sport and YouTube. That team is supported by a reserve team. Starting in September 2022, we will have a men's team too!

What is our why?

Futsal is for everyone. There are often barriers placed between people and their desired level of participation. We exist to try to make futsal not only more accessible and welcoming, but also to improve the quality of experience of those involved. With plenty of years of coaching across the globe in different cultures and countries, we feel we have a more well-rounded view of the game and what it can provide people.

What do we do?

We have the scope to provide lots of different futsal services to people. In the summer of 2021 we started a futsal club, called the Southampton Aztecs. Futsal is tremendous fun, and should really be considerably bigger in England. We want to get as many people involved in the sport as possible, providing opportunities for participation and casual level players, while also competing at the highest level in England, competing for national titles. Due to generations of discrimination towards women within sport, we have initially prioritised futsal for females, yet we do want to help grow the game for everybody.

We offer training, teams, introductory sessions, and just play sessions for male and female players of all ages. We now have a women's first and reserve team, as well as a men's team, and will be looking to create more futsal opportunities in the area as time goes by. We are heading into schools to spread the word, and working with local youth teams.

“When I was a young boy in Argentina, I played futsal in the street and in a club. It was great fun and helped me to become the player I am today.”
