Connecting with the global game.

The Aztecs don't just compete against the best in England, we go in search of games and experiences overseas too. Not only do we get to test ourselves against different futsal cultures, but we have a lot of fun doing it!

Malaga 2024

A relatively small squad of seven players made the trip to the Costa del Sol in August of 2024. Those players made history, becoming the first women's team from England to play a futsal match in Africa. This pre-season tour featured four games, two against Spanish opponents; our friends at Torre Casabermeja, and a new opponent in Playas de Malaga. The first day was a trip to Gibraltar to play against Hercules. The trip finished with the Aztecs travelling across the Mediterranean by ferry to Tangier in Morocco, to play against Chabiba Tangier.

The team made new friends, went to unforgettable locations, and experienced the trip of a lifetime. As far as we can tell, Rebekah Tonks is the first and only English goal scorer in a futsal match in Africa, and Lauren Sayler is the first American goal scorer. The visiting Aztecs side was accompanied by a fanfare, including Moroccan news reporters.

A more detailed rundown of the trip can be found here.
