Southampton Aztecs welcome The Tacover as front-of-shirt sponsor

We are excited to share some big news for our club. THE TACOVER is now our new front-of-shirt sponsor for the women’s teams.

This partnership is a big step forward as our women’s teams compete in both Tier 1 and Tier 2. Along with a new look for our matchday shirts, it brings together the energy and community spirit of futsal and Mexican culture.

Meet THE TACOVER

If you haven’t been to one of their events, THE TACOVER hosts Europe’s largest taco, tequila, and mezcal festival. The festival brings together up to 40 top UK taco and Mexican street food vendors, creating a great atmosphere full of food, culture, and community.

The festival is also known for its lively entertainment, with live mariachi bands, Lucha Britannia wrestling, folk dancers, and fun challenges like the Tortilla Slap and Hot Taco competitions. Their focus on culture, energy, and community makes them a great match for the Southampton Aztecs.

THE TACOVER team wanted to support local sports and community projects with a club that shares their passion for bringing people together. They found that connection here with our Aztecs community on the south coast.

Un Match Perfecto: Words from Founder Alex Freitas

The partnership feels particularly special because of the personal connection shared by THE TACOVER’s founder, Alex Freitas. Alex is no stranger to the futsal community; in fact, he has a rich background in the sport. Previously, he played an instrumental role in increasing futsal participation across West London, working tirelessly to ensure that players of all abilities had access to meaningful futsal opportunities.

When Alex first found out about the Southampton Aztecs, it felt meant to be. He shared his excitement about the new partnership:

"I honestly couldn’t believe I found a futsal club with a Mexican theme! It felt like the universe was bringing my two greatest passions together—authentic Mexican culture and futsal. Having spent years working to grow participation and provide futsal opportunities for all abilities in West London, I know how special community clubs are. Supporting the Southampton Aztecs, especially as the front-of-shirt sponsor for the women’s teams, is an incredible honour. I can’t wait to see the team step onto the court in Tier 1 and Tier 2 proudly wearing THE TACOVER on their shirts."

It helps with the costs of competing at a high level and shows that our women’s teams’ hard work is valued. This partnership also helps raise the profile of women's futsal and shows the sport deserves more support and recognition.
