It is with profound sadness that Southampton Aztecs Futsal Club shares the news of the passing of our dear friend and teammate, Kath.
Kathryn Heath was a huge part of our club’s history. She scored our first-ever competitive goal, and played in our first-ever televised win. Beyond her achievements on the court, Kath was known for her kindness, her sharp wit, and the warmth she brought to everyone around her.
After our first season, Kath continued her futsal journey with Reading Royals, where she remained a respected opponent and a cherished friend to many of us. This summer, she had rejoined the Aztecs, excited to pull on the green shirt once again. Where she truly belonged.
Kath will always hold a special place in the story of the Aztecs. Her spirit, humour, and love for the game will never be forgotten.
As a club, we are rallying around each other in this difficult time, because the heart of any team goes far beyond sport. We encourage everyone to look out for one another, to talk, and to share how you feel.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Kath’s family, friends, and all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but forever remembered. The club will honour her memory at our next home fixture against London Genesis on Saturday 1st November.
Rest in peace, Kath
