USA Call-up for Lauren Sayler

We are so proud to inform our fans that goalkeeper Lauren Sayler was recently called up to a US national team training camp. Lauren was called up to a camp that took place over six days in Sterling, Virginia during January.

Lauren was one of two keepers called into the squad of eighteen for the January camp.

Following the January camp, the USSF decided to change head coach, with Marcia Tafarel heading out, and Diego Burato coming in. The team have just come back from playing a series of friendlies in Costa Rica, a squad Lauren was not selected to be a part of, while still remaining in contention for future camps. The US won two and drew one of their three friendlies against Costa Rica.

The next camp will be in April, before the May World Cup qualifiers, which will take place in Guatemala, where the US will hope to qualify from their group of four, and earn one of the World Cup spots to represent CONCACAF in the Philippines in November 2025.

The USA are in Group B, where they will face Costa Rica again, plus Canada, and the winner of Nicaragua versus Honduras.

The first ever FIFA Women's World Cup will take place in the Philippines. England have already been eliminated from contention, exiting the qualifying phase from their group in Moldova last February. The World Cup begins on November 25th, featuring sixteen teams, with there being two slots available for CONCACAF teams. The USA look to be in a strong position to qualify, and be one of the first sixteen teams to be part of history.

We are immensely proud of Lauren, who has been with the Aztecs on this journey since our inception. Lauren has had some setbacks with injuries, yet has come back even stronger, and is now in the form of her life. She is not only a fantastic goalkeeper, but a great leader too.

From 2021...

...into 2025. This opportunity has been earned through hard work, perseverance, and dedication to her craft. Lauren has become one of the top keepers in England, and is as lethal in defence as she is in attack, making great saves one second, and providing excellent assists the next.

We know what Lauren is capable of, we see her hard work every week, and we will be her biggest fans cheering her on her international journey.
