19th November 2022: A devastating defeat for the Aztecs at St. George's Park.
Laura Ingram back into the squad, with Hannah Walker and Mo Delaney making their first team debuts.
The confidence gained from the recent performance against champions Birmingham was quickly eroded when Hartpury raced to a 6-0 lead at half time. The Aztecs suffered from a series of individual errors and a failure to deal with Hartpury's style of play. A change in tactics meant Mo Delaney was brought on for her first taste of tier one futsal in goal. She wasn't able to prevent more Hartpury goals, as they scored another three in the second half, but she did endear herself to the BT cameras with some good saves and a save from a 10m penalty. Bekah Tonks scored the consolation goal, assisted by Amy Maidment.
The Aztecs will need to be a lot better, facing three tough games week after week before the Christmas break. Southampton will face Birmingham again, then back to St. George's Park for another BT game against Bolton, and then off to Hartpury for the return game against Hartpury. Every game now is a fight, as the team is still in search of the first points of the season. Every point and every goal will count as we attempt to climb the table
